Facebook creates 'Safety Check' for disaster

Facebook launches a tool that allows users to notify friends and family that are either during or after a natural disaster.

The tool, called "Safety Check", will be available to 1,320 million social network users worldwide on computers and mobile devices. He will also be present in the basic cellular many still use to access Facebook, especially in most developing countries today.

Users already using Facebook to warn people that they are fine after earthquakes or other disasters, but the company said it will make it easier Safety Check that communication. The tool was developed from a photo that the engineers of the social network created in 2011 after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Once users activate the tool, it will determine your location using the city that have marked on your profile, who shared last location or city from where they are using internet. If they are in an area affected by a natural disaster, Safety Check will send a notification asking whether they are safe.

If they answer yes, your Facebook friends will be notified. There is no option to answer 'no'. Users can also point out that your friends are well, although they will have to give its approval.
